The Commissaire à la déontologie policière is very concerned about the protection of privacy on the Internet. We invite you to carefully read our privacy policy as well as intellectual property rights.

 

Protection of Your Identity

We would like to inform you:

  • that we does not place any permanent cookies on users' hard drives. The temporary cookies they use occasionally are not used to collect personal information about you, but rather to facilitate your navigation on the site;
  • that no personal information is collected without prior consent. The information transmitted automatically between computers does not in any way identify you personally. This information is collected only because of the technological requirements inherent in browsing the Internet and is used for statistical purposes;
  • that we make secure electronic services available to targeted customers using an encryption method that guarantees the confidentiality of the personal information exchanged.

 

Information transmitted automatically


You should know that as soon as you access the site of the Commissaire à la déontologie policière, automatically and without your intervention, an exchange of information takes place between your computer and the site server hosted by the ministère de la Sécurité publique. This information does not identify you personally.

The following information is then exchanged:

  • Internet domain name and your IP address (an IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider each time you browse the Web) to access our site;
  • the type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
  • the date and time you access our site;
  • the pages you visit;
  • if you reach the site www.deontologie-policiere.gouv.qc.ca from another site, the address of this site (referring site).

This exchange of information is necessary for the server to send you a file compatible with the computer equipment you are using. The ministère de la Sécurité publique maintains the information necessary to account for :

  • the number of visitors;
  • the most frequented pages;
  • the technology used by the customers of its site;
  • referral sites;
  • the country of origin of Internet users.

 

Confidentiality of personal information exchanged

The personal information transmitted is communicated to another government agency only in the cases where your request is addressed to this organization or if this communication is required by law. The information transmitted is in no way used to draw up user profiles and is not transmitted to any private organization.

 

If you send us personal information by email

  • Avoid sending us personal information by e-mail. For security reasons, never include personal contact information in a message, especially your social insurance number.

  • We do not respond by email to questions requiring the transmission of personal and confidential information. Instead, we will attempt to contact you by telephone to respond to your message or follow up on your request.

  • Electronic messages are treated with the same confidentiality measures as traditional mail. You can therefore count on the discretion of our staff.

 

If online services are available and you use them

When you use online services, the Commissaire à la déontologie policière must verify your identity by asking you for certain personal information. This information is necessary for the Commissaire à la déontologie policière to:

  • verify your identity when you communicate with us;
  • access your file to process your application with the correct information;
  • verify your identity, if applicable, when we communicate with you to respond to your request;
  • guarantee the confidentiality of your information.

You must provide certain information in order to benefit from the services offered by the Commissaire à la déontologie policière. We keep them in accordance with the Regulation respecting the distribution of information and the protection of personal information.
